Stitch Fix #6

My 6th Stitch Fix arrived today!  I had a nice message from my stylist, Laurie, with my fix which showed she even looked to see what the weather was like here for me!  Upon opening my fix, I liked the colors and styles of the items that were chosen for me overall.  

 

 

Item #1: Cori Striped Lining Ruffle Back Puffer Coat $64

My first impression: I like the color and texture of this puffer coat.  It looks warm and cozy.  Upon trying it on, I discovered that I can't quite zip it comfortably.  I put it on over what I wore to work today.  I looks nice when left open and is very warm.  I also tried this on with a cowl neck sweater and like the look with it.  The only draw back is that I can't zip it up.

My decision: Sadly, send back.

Item #2: Market and Spruce Benzer Mixed Material Sweater $78
My first impression: It has a layered look on the bottom of it which adds a little bit of length.  The color and fabric of this sweater are nice.  I could layer it with one of my scarves or necklaces for a dash of color.  Upon trying it on, I like the cut of it.  It gives a nice, flattering profile.  It is very comfortable.
My decision: Keep!

Item #3: Market and Spruce Marko Colorblocked Tie-back Sweater $68
My first impression: I like the front of the sweater, but don't really like how the back is a completely different color (tan).  I like how it looked on me from the front.   It has a loose, flattering cut to it.  But when I looked at myself from the side or back, I just didn't like the look.
My decision: Send back

 

Item #4: Level 99 Patrick Chino Pant $108
My first impression: I like the fabric of the pant.  They are a soft cotton blend.  When I pulled them on, the legs were pretty fitted and kind of short on me.  I also didn't like how the waist fit. 
My decision: Send back

 Item #5: Zad Kierra Spike Pendant Necklace $28
My first impression: I'm not sure of the spike.  I tried this on with one of the sweaters that was in the fix.  My thought was... umm so-so.  I don't like it as much as other necklaces in my wardrobe.
My decision: Send back

So my sixth Stitch Fix was every bit as much fun as my first!  I kept one sweater that I can see myself getting a lot of use from.  I think my favorite item in this fix though was the puffer coat that I sent back.  I loved the look and style of it, but it just didn't fit quite right.

Stitch Fix #5

 My 5th Stitch Fix has arrived! 

Item #1: Daniel Rainn Saxton Geo Print Henley Blouse $58
My first impression:  The pattern reminds me tank that I received in my 2nd fix.  Similar to the last couple fixes, the sleeve buttons up.  The fit of the blouse was perfect.  I liked how it felt and looked. There was nothing that I really didn't like about this blouse.  During the winter months, I would likely pair it with a blazer.  However.... given another item sent to me this month that I like better...
My decision: Send back.

 

Item #2 Pixley Dillard Snake Print & Colorblocked Blouse $64

My first impression: I'm not sure of the color blocking.  I'm really not sure of the snake print.  I wonder what I can pair this tank with because it will definitely not be warm enough to wear to work.  I pulled out a white sweater cardigan to try with this.  I love the cut of the neckline.  If it would be more versatile in my wardrobe, I would consider keeping this item, but as it is I just don't have much that I could mix and match it with.

Item #3: 19 Cooper Trim Contrast Collar Sleeveless Blouse $58
My first impression: As this tank is sheer and low cut, I would definitely have to layer something underneath it.  I put a silky peach tank underneath this tank for the photo.  After looking at the picture, I don't really like the placement of the pockets.  Also the thought of having to wear a tank underneath a tank to layer under another warmer layer seems a bit much.
My decision: Send back

 

 Item #4: Sanctuary Shelston Solid Trim Waffle Knit Sweater $48

My first impression: Love it! This sweater has a low-cut V-neck so I put on a solid black tank underneath.  I love the color of the sweater.  The weight of it would be cozy on a cold winter day.  I can see myself wearing this often throughout the sub-zero temperature months coming.

My decision: Keep

Item #5: Look by M Torrey Twist Cable Knit Infinity Scarf $42
I love cable-knit sweaters! The idea card that came with this infinity scarf told me to try it with the sweater that came in the fix.  However, when I put the infinity scarf on, it seemed too bulky.  It would definitely be warm.  I could see wearing this with a winter coat to keep the cold wind off of my neck, but I can't see myself wearing it throughout the day.  I had a hard time getting my hair to lay nice while wearing it.  Also, it just felt too big and was hard to arrange for me.  I love the thin silky infinity scarf that I got in my first fix.
My decision: Sadly, send back.

This was another fun fix!  I decided to keep one item that I absolutely loved.

Stitch Fix #4

My 4th Stitch Fix arrived today! It was happily waiting for me at my door when I got home from work.  I opened the box to peek inside as soon as I got home and found these pretties.  I just have to say that my designer, Megan, does an amazing job picking things out for me! I just love seeing what she comes up with!

 

 

Item #1: RD Style Maureen Twisted Seam Elbow Patch Sweater $64

My first impression: My high school math teacher wore elbow patches... didn't know they were 'in' again. :)  Anyways, this sweater is cotton/acrylic blend with suede elbow patches.  It has an open weave but is definitely warm enough for a cool fall day.  In this picture, I layered it with a tank underneath.  It is slightly longer in the back than the front.  It would pair very nicely with a dress pant or a jean.

My decision: Keep



 

Item #2: Papermoon Talulah Plaid Print Henley Top $44
My first impression: I like the color of this plaid shirt.  It is unlike the other plaid shirts in my closet.  It has a three-quarter sleeve that can be buttoned up to a half sleeve.  It is a sheer polyester, so I could play with neutral, pink or blue for an undershirt.  This could work for spring, summer or fall weather if worn as is.  When paired with the cobalt blazer from an earlier fix, I could also be worn throughout the winter.  The fit is nice, the cut is nice.
My decision:  Keep

Item #3: Kut From The Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean $78
My first impression: This was actually the first item that I pulled out of the box and put on!  They have been pictured in the last two photos.  While I normally do not purchase a distressed jean since I wear jeans to the office about half of the time, I love the fit of these jeans!  They are so comfortable that I can see them being a favorite after working-hours jean for me.  I like them with the plaid shirt above for a dressed down look.
My decision: Keep

Item #4: Street Level Parvin Reversible Hang Tag Detail Tote $64
My first impression: This is something that I hate to shop for!  I don't enjoy picking out totes or purses.  So when I first pulled it out of the box, I thought oh boy.... it's nice and I didn't have to go shopping for it!  This tote is actually quite perfect for me.  As a mother, I am always carrying things for my kids.  As a college student, I end up carrying my planner and notebooks back and forth with me to work so I can study over my lunch hour.  This tote is spacious enough that it really is very functional.  The insert can come out completely, so if I carry it to tote my schoolwork, I can pull out the liner if I decide to dine out with coworkers.
My decision:  Keep

Item #5: Mystree Cris Pintuck Detail Knit Top

My first impression: This is a super soft knit top in a beautiful color!  My style card suggested that I pair it with a pair of leggings, so I put this on with my Kut From The Kloth Knit Pants from a previous fix.  I think this would look great with a pair of my boots, dressy sandals, or my ballet flats.  The arms are fitted enough that if I get chilled on a super cold winter day, I can pull one of my cardigans that I keep at the office on as well.  And I love the color!

My decision: Keep



All in all this fix was an absolute success!  Here's how my decision played out: my favorite piece was the sweater.  My next favorite was the tote.  I really liked the plaid top.  Then I tried on the tunic and loved the color and fit on me.  It fit in perfectly with my existing wardrobe.  I was unsure about the jean just because it was distressed, but if I kept all five items, then I would end up only paying $6 for the jean since I would be getting 25% off of the entire fix.  So I decided that I would keep the jean and just choose to wear them on evenings and weekends.  The five items cost me a total of $216.00.

My Third Stitch Fix

My third stitch fix arrived this afternoon.  In case you didn't know it was an option, you can go online to view the items after they have been shipped.  I cheated this weekend and peaked online to see what my designer picked out for me... but even after searching for the items online, seeing them in person today was so much better than what I had found! 

 

Item #1: Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse $48



My first impression: I'm so excited that it's purple!  It was the first item that I wanted to try on!  I slipped it on over the jeans that I wore to work today and.... hated how it fit around my waist!  It looked tight and unflattering at the waist line, but everywhere else fit just perfect.  Maybe with a skinny jean it would be better, but not my favorite pair of jeans :)  So I had to dig this back out tonight with a pair of dress pants.  Love it here with these pants.  I can see myself wearing this to the office. 

My decision: It was a very difficult decision, but sent back.

 

Item #2: Rosa Tab Sleeve V-Neck Blouse $58
My first impression:  I love myself in blue.  I tried this blouse on with both a pair of jeans and with my dress pants and I like it with both.  The sleeve can be worn long or it can be buttoned up just like the purple shirt above.  That might be nice on these early fall days when mother nature can't decide if it is going to be hot or cold in the morning.  This blouse won out over the purple because I could wear it with both jeans and dress pants.
My decision: Keep

 

Item #3: Missy Polka Dot Tab-Sleeve Blouse $48



My first impression: Umm... I think the color will wash me out.  When I pulled this one out of the pile, my son said, "I don't think so mom."  I told him well let's try this on.  So here we are... The fit is ok.  But that color.  Ok, so I liked the vibrant blouse from last month that was aqua.  But this is more pastel and just seems to make me look pale.  While I don't mind polka dots, I think maybe a smaller polka dot would look better on me.  I don't know... I think I look frumpy and bigger than I am in it.

My decision: Send back.

Item #4: Esteban Open Back Striped Top $48
My first impression: I asked for a sweater in this fix and I got it!  This sweater has a lightweight open knit design.  I love the fit and feel of it.  I liked how this sweater fit with both denim and dress pants.  The back of it has a fun little cut-out, but is still office appropriate.  The colors in it could be layered with my blazer from my last fix on a cold winter day.  I thought it was a great piece.... however, I was told that the stripes didn't do anything to flatter my figure.
My decision: Sadly... sent back.

Item #5: Rupert Mini Pave Triangle Necklace $32



My first impression: Very nice.  The little silver triangles sparkle pretty in the sunlight.  It's a nice dainty necklace that I could have easily picked out for myself.  It's got a fun shape that is unlike anything that I own.  It is neutral enough that I could wear it with several different outfits.

My decision: Keep

I would have to say this was another successful fix!  I kept two pieces that I really love on me.  I had two other options that I really liked, but decided to send back.  I only had one option that I didn't like.  My stylist did an awesome job!

My Second Stitch Fix

My second stitch fix arrived today.  So excited to see what my designer has picked out for me.  After the great success with the last stitch fix that I received, I have been looking forward to this second fix for a long time!  Here we go with stitch fix #2.

 

Item #1: Mattis Geo Print Henley Blouse $48

My first impression:  Love the silky feeling to this blouse.  The colors are nice.  I can see it blending into my wardrobe.  Not sure of the print.  After trying it on and looking at it, I love the fit.  I have to say, it is a top I never would have picked out for myself but I think my designer nailed it.  This top will dress up or down depending on what I wear with it.

My decision:  Keep



Item #2 Clyde Center Pleat Sleeveless Blouse $48
My first impression: Love the color.  Trying to think of what I can wear this with.  I didn't realize until looked at pictures that it's a bit sheer.  I put an undershirt under it for this photo.  The fit was good.  The feel was good.  Very comfortable. 
My decision:  keep

Item #3 Kut from the Kloth Danny 5-Pocket Knit Pant $78
My first impression: These pants are super soft.  They stretched to mold to my figure.  However, they feel really tight on my legs.  I'm really not sure of a skinny leg or jegging type fit.  I always think it makes my top look heavy.  I tried on a bunch of tops with these pants before I could find a combination I liked.  The more I wore these pants, the more I realized how extremely comfortable they are.  I wasn't sure that I wanted to take them off!
My decision: keep

 Item #4 Edmond Chevron Print Henley Shirt $54
My first impression: I wonder how this print will make me look.  Love the super soft knit fabric!  After putting it on, I have to say I loved the fit and feel of it!  It is very comfortable.  The photo card show this shirt with a skirt.  I might have to try dressing it up, but it definitely dresses down well.
My decision: keep

  Item #5 Under Skies Ebbe 3/4 Sleeve Textured Blazer $78
My first impression: This blazer has a casual feel to it.  Love the color of it.  It's made of polyester so it is washable - nice!  I tried it with quite a few combinations in my closet before I found this look that I like.  It also looked really good with dark jeans.
My decision: keep

All in all, an absolute success for my second stitch fix.  Since I decided to keep all 5 items that were sent to me, I got a 25% discount on the fix, so all five items cost me a total of $214.50.

My First Stitch Fix

For those of you not familiar with Stitch Fix, you can have your own online personal shopper.  That means no arranging childcare, no having to drive, and no dealing with crowds.  Plus the best part is that it's almost like giving yourself a gift!  Quick, simple, and easy.  You go to the Stitch Fix website and fill out a quick survey and viola you have your own personal shopper.  You set your own budget, so the items that you will receive are all within the price range you are comfortable with.  When the Fix is shipped, a $20 fee is charged to your credit card.  If you keep anything in the box, the $20 is applied to that item.  Anything you don't like, just dropped it in the mail in the enclosed return envelope (free shipping!).  I linked my Stitch Fix with my Pinterest board where I have pinned outfits that I like.  The more detail that you provide your shopper, the more your shopper will get to know your preferences.

Each fix comes with five items.  Each item has a style card with tips on mixing and matching the new items with things you may already have in your closet. 

 

As soon as I opened the pretty wrapping and read the card from my stylist, I was so excited when I saw what I was sent.  Loved the colors and textures that I saw when I pulled these beauties from the box.  Here is a picture of my five items:

 
Item #1: Elmes Striped Button Down Tank Top $48
My first impression:  Loved the color and feel of the tank.  It has stripes of soft green, grey and white.  The fabric was wonderfully soft.  This will be great for my vacation next month.  (Sorry, technology at it's finest - couldn't get this picture to rotate!)
My decision: Keep.

Item #2: Moni Stud Detail Tile Print Top $58
My first impression: Not sure of the pattern, but let's give it a try.  The fabric has a silky, rayon feel to it.  The studs are subtle, but hmm I'm not sure about them.  After putting the shirt on, I fiddled with the sleeves.  They have an elastic band at the end of the sleeve and a slight puffiness accented by studs.  While I liked the cut and feel of the shirt, I didn't live the sleeve.  It felt uncomfortable. I did like the top with a pair of dress pants although the sleeve still felt uncomfortable.
My decision: Tough call, but sent back.

 

Item #3: Peyton Lightweight Solid Scrunch Infinity Scarf $36
First impression: Love the color.  Love the soft fabric.  Love the lightweight feel of it.  My designer nailed it!  Love this pretty little baby.
My decision: Definitely a keeper!

Item #4: Wakeman Crochet Open Cardigan $54
My first impression: a lovely color and feel to this cardigan.  I'm telling you, this cardigan is a gem.  The color and style of it makes this a very versatile piece.  The open crochet design will make it lightweight enough to wear in the summer, yet enough to ward off the chill of air conditioning.  I can see this fitting very nicely into my existing wardrobe.  As the style card told me, I put this on over the tank (hey look, you can see the tank upright! haha).  The fit, feel, and style of it are just perfect. 
My decision: Definitely a keeper!

Item #5: Katelin Sleeveless Ikat Elastic Waist Dress $68
First impression:  While I generally like a halter style dress, I usually get one with a v-neck and an open back.  The design is a bit louder than I am used to.  However keeping an open mind, I went to try it on.  Well, let's say that this dress just didn't fit.  At all.  Laughed so hard that I cried as I tried my best to get this dress on.  After I gave up, I wasn't sure that I could get it off.  Didn't fit in my chest, waist, or hips.
My decision: Send back.

 

 

I would say that this fix was a success.  Three keepers out of five.  It was obvious that my stylist took the time to browse my pinterest board and preferences when picking out items for me.
